For development or playing around purpose we can install Latest Android 9 in virtualbox. It is safe to play and learn the android virtualbox. I will quickly show you how to install Android 9 ISO in virtualbox.
Download the 64/32 bit ISO from: https://www.fosshub.com/Android-x86.html
Download virtualbox to install: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
You are ready to go ahead. Let’s follow step by step.
Create the virtual disk for android 9:
- Click new on the virtualbox.
- Give Name: Android, Select Machine Folder, Type: Linux, Version: Other 64 Bit
- Memory Size: 6 GB
- Create a virtual hard disk now.
- Select VDI and Forward
- Now select “Fixed Size”
- Give it about 30GB and click finis.
These first 7 step to create the Disk. Now we will do an extra configuration before installing.
Some Extra Configuration
Click on Setting and go to display and then do the following:
- Set the Video memory to minimum 64 MB
- Graphics Controller: VBOxVga
- Enable 3d Acceleration. (You may try without this option)
Now got Storage, Select Empty then in the right side you will see CD icon to click “Choose a Disk File”. Then point to the downloaded Android 9 ISO file as follows:
Just click on “Start”
Installing The Android 9 on VirtualBox
When you start, It will give option to select a menu. You select the “Installation-Installation Android-x86 to hard disk”
Now follow the below instruction:
- Press C to create/modify partition, then “ENTER”
- “Do you want to use GPT?” Answer : No
- Then this will show you the partition with space of 30 GB. Just press Use arrow key to select “New” >>Primary>>”Enter”
- Select the partition bootable.
- Use arrow key to navigate to “Write”, Type: yes, Hit “Enter”
Press enter, Next select Ext4
Select Yes to Format the Disk
Select Yes for “Do you want to install bootloader GRUB?”
For next option you can select yes or no. I selected “Yes” for System Read-Write Permission.
The installation is finished. You can now Run android 9 or reboot:
